Hedgelaying
Volunteers Hedge Laying

Lesnes Abbey Conservation Volunteers
runs free hedge laying events every year, any
one interested in learning
the traditional art are welcome to attend and learn from trained
volunteers. Creating a well maintained attractive wildlife hedge
provides an improved wildlife habitat (for native flowers, birds,
insects & other wildlife), protects the wood from fly tipping &
makes the woodland boundary safer. The hedgerow also provides the local
wildlife with food, shelter & a safe corridor for wildlife including
birds & bats. There are many different regional hedge laying
styles, LACV lays hedges using the 'standard' or Midlands hedge style.
